| Most of this shit is inspired by video games. Most of the references are damn obvious. I do this every now and then, and I'm always taking criticism to write better. One thing I've been told and am working on was to be less specific, letting the reader create a picture on their own. Which is a problem I've noticed in my poetry. - Older Works:
- Spoiler:
"Fog"
It lingers in the air, it is both visible and invisible It hinders how far we can see We are unable to distinguish figures in the distance Why can't we see into the fog? Where did it come from? Vision and Judgment hindered by the world The fog grows thick with lies and naivety It grows heavy, hiding the unknown in the innocent haven
When we reach out to the truth, what do we find but A wailing soul, disfigured as a result of its search Taking actions haphazardly through the fog In futile attempts to disperse it To those who live in the midst of fog Shall you wander about in bliss? Or is your desire to find what really lies under the fog No matter how ugly it may be?
"Passion"
It defines the depth of our emotions A burning passion of love The euphoria of being with the one held so dear Yet there is an unnerving fear deep inside the mind That one day they will be lost Whether that be to the empyreal skies, or the cold earth
The flames of passion burn out The desire to avoid emotional pain and vulnerability Overtake the heart and soul, leaving a callous shell The passion is frozen,, but still remains Taken in the form of hatred, sorrow, ressentiment Trying to find the root of the pain The search is endless, passion covered by apathy What passion is there in apathy?
- Spoiler:
"Flowing Destiny"
Flowing Destiny Destiny is not written in stone It is a star out in the night sky Determining which star, which destiny Is truly yours, is outright impossible
Shifting Destiny The moment you think you find your destiny It fades back into the sea of stars How much longer will you search? Nothing will come of uncertainty
Temporal Destiny Some say it is a river Flowing in one direction They're wrong, Time and Destiny Are both oceans, indefinite and endless
Infinite Destiny The star doesn't choose you You determine your destiny whether you realize it or not Did you ever think there was a finite number of destinies? The possibilities are as endless as the stars in the heavens
Don't chase after fleeting fancies.
"Corner of Memories"
A young man stood At the corner of a city block He looked to his right A child played with his family in the park Laughing along the way as he ran about The man looked to his left An elderly man sat by the trees Visiting his beloved one's grave As the young man looked out in the distance The figures became distorted Yet certain events remained clear He stood at the divide As the lanes converged towards him At the mirror's edge of the parallel
- Spoiler:
"Compassion"
I kept asking myself, "Why do I keep reaching out to people, knowing one of us is going to get hurt?" But then I realized, nothing will stay here Albeit it a somber thought, I knew one thing for certain That is a damn good reason To enjoy what I have now! I know and willingly accept What will be of the future You will never existentially disappear Because I'll always remember The being you made out of me
Some say, "Humans only act out of self-interest." While that is true to an extent Self-interest does not have to be self-centered If my interest were to help you, It is my own interest, an outward action I reach out to you and I feel... euphoric, ecstatic, happy Like a hand reaching out to the sky above I am unsure whether you can see or if I can feel you taking my hand ...But I want to hold on!
"Dreams of a Shore in Another World"
Have I awakened? Or have I slipped into slumber? The world has a mysterious air Perhaps, even a bit celestial Do I belong in such a place? I returned home to surprised, even horrified faces All pictures of me have been defaced My identity effectively erased In the backyard was a faceless tombstone Even if I stumbled upon this world by chance It's clear I don't belong here...
Many times I've envisioned that, A world void of my existence I've pictured how much happier the world would be without me It's selfish, or self-absorbed, one or the other To think that my existence is worth nothing I may not have a grand future That's not important, I have a reason The smaller gears move in unison, in synergy To the larger gears, nothing more.
- Spoiler:
"Reality"
"Cogito ergo sum." I think, therefore I am. As spoken by Rene Descartes
Our existence composes our reality for us However, reality is not so clear cut Dreams invade reality How do we prove we are truly alive? Thus exists the reality of death That one day, all shall return to origin So we are faced with an agenda Time, our enemy To make our dreams into reality The fear that we will go forgotten To leave our "mark" How selfish of us to believe that we will go forgotten There is no need for proof Such is our dream of reality And the reality of our dreams
"Resplendent Life"
Observe and celebrate it in its grandeur Its brilliance Its magnificence
Such a splendor cannot be covered by words alone That it is both immeasurable and yet finite in worth That we cannot relate life to something that DOESN'T have worth Or rather, something that is infinite, for life is fleeting
Some say lives are without worth But I say if they were to give their life for yours Would you consider it worthless and move on? Sad to say, some see it like that Were it that simple, we'd have been gone o'er night Lives have worth, but they are incomparable One's life cannot be another, for they are different in identity
If they are incomparable, then why are we all different?
- Spoiler:
"Memory"
Like a virus Once it enters, it spreads about on instinct Like a plague Destined to fade, to be "eradicated" one day
Does it flutter around you like a butterfly? Does it stalk you like a lynx?
Memories vary in worth Some want to hold onto all of their memories Others want to renew themselves But they define who you are
Even the haunting nightmares Even the slightest, faintest memory Some memories persist Others will vanish Only to appear again
You are never allowed to forget It is natural to associate to memory No matter how much we want to forget But that doesn't mean they'll stay with you forever To accept that nightmare for all it's worth To try and understand it Then it will fade away on its own To the deepest recesses of the mind It will become nothing more than a memory oneday
"Transience"
Like rain The drops scatter about, and regather Only to become a raindrop And disperse once again
It reminds us of what we hold most dear At the very moment it will leave us The things that are most important to us Are just as easily lost It's easy to take for granted When we don't realize how long it will last
Is it... scary? Knowing that things can never stay the same? Do you want to hold on? Don't be afraid to fight for it But it's not always good to hold on...
- Newer Works:
"Sin and Punishment"
To quote the fascinations of a certain someone: "There are two kinds of men, the righteous who think they are sinners, and the sinners who think they are righteous." Likewise, of the flock There are sheep who seek damnation And then the goats who seek salvation
Which begs the question Will people get what's coming to them? Does justice, true justice exist? Or perhaps, guilt Incessantly pecking at the judged like a raven Sin is a burden Something we are born with It is natural, instinctive to sin Yet we are more than just humans, we are people If the sin is yours alone, it is your burden to bear alone
It is also natural to blame oneself But is it truly your fault? Keep saying it to yourself and it might as well be Your own personal torturing and execution You became your own "judge, jury, and executioner", as they say What more fitting punishment is there?
"Scarlet Elegy"
In a hamlet lived a painter Adept and accomplished Perfectionist, and yet far from it Striving to overcome mistakes His sights set
Then one day, a brilliant young artist appeared He created masterpieces Masterpieces for the world to see The people marveled in his talents The painter was distraught Years of building up practice Only to be shadowed by a tower The painter worked himself tooth and nail He did not sleep, nor eat After all, those menial tasks slowed him down Driven by only hatred, envy, and jealousy The slightest mistakes torn to ribbons Yet he could not improve...
The aspiring you artist visited the painter's home The painter threw a frenzy at the very sight of him "If I can't be the best, I'll be the only one!" He grabbed paintbrushes and stabbed the young artist He stabbed him with as many brushes as it took The dying artist's cries delighted him When the villagers came to see Did they see man or beast? Feral teeth and claws, and deranged eyes and smile He mauled the villagers Their cries an aria of the painter's strife With his last brush, he took a palate Collected the blood And begun his final masterpiece Slashing furiously at the canvas
"We can all be in the picture! Come now! Don't be shy, let's all go together! Blood, blood! Crimson blood! Poison! Poisonous blood! You're all like a plague, you held me back! Hahaha! It's wonderful! It's delicious! I thank you for this last piece. You all did a good job! But I must be in this too!" He howled at the night sky And drove his claws into his heart But there was no blood Having finally given up He collapsed on his canvas But the blood did not smear...
"Harmony"
In a split symphony, Negativity and Composure What do you get when you combine them? A single being, "me" The spoken "unique trait", an orchestra Within Negativity, Ressentiment, anger, bitterness Yet, if those are taken away The orchestra crumbles The privilege of having these emotions, is all mine
Within Composure Calmness, curiosity, assuredness Yet combined makes a harmony of dissonance Chaos, making a stable mask Dissonance is my harmony For a "true harmony", Would be an Eden, only covering the hell No good would come of that I want to accept my imperfect reality Because that is how it must be
